Full sun; evergreen, with a large rosette of broad greenish-blue leaves. Although toothless, the leaves carry stiff terminal spines. There is no wild population of the species; it originated from Tamaulipas, Mexico and is known only from cultivation.
Weber’s agave is a popular landscape subject, presenting a nice contrast for grey-leaved agaves and desert plants. For a better-looking plant, minimize exposure to reflected heat from asphalt. Around pathways these spines can be clipped.
Weber’s isn’t as cold hardy as the typical century plant, Agave americana. Like any large agave, it may attract white-tailed deer when scratching velvet.
