About This Plant

Shade or sun; north-facing slopes. Deciduous, with the variable mitten-like or lobed leaves of a mulberry. The fleshy purple ripens in May. In stature, little-leaf mulberry is fairly small and easily overlooked — sometimes just a big shrub, rarely growing to 25 feet. It is native to creek canyons with well-drained limestone soils.

Origins: Southwestern U.S.

Maintenance

No regular maintenance required; prune lightly, only to remove dead or crossing branches.
