Sun or partial shade. Sow seeds in late summer or fall. Phlox is a much-branched, sticky-glandular plant with bright red, pink, or white flowers in tight clusters at the ends of stems.
Annual phlox (Drummond’s phlox) is a showy annual; usually 6-12 in. tall, it can reach 20 inches. Its flowers range from pink to red, white, peach, or lavender. The 1-inch blooms are trumpet-shaped with a short, narrow tube. The leaves are soft, hairy and sticky. A southern flower of roadsides and fields, it escapes easily from cultivation.
