Partial shade. Evergreen, with soft, gently arching leaves. The rough ridges along the margin should be handled with care but, overall, soft leaves and soft terminal spines make this one of the gentlest, least dangerous agaves. In a garden setting it can be used along pathways since it presents little hazard to pedestrians. It may spread by rhizomes and offsets.
Unlike many of its relatives, this agave doesn’t die after blooming. Find it in specialty nurseries; variegated forms are available.
