Kidneywood

Eysenhardtia texana

About This Plant

Sun or partial shade. A deciduous thornless shrub or small tree in the citrus family with very fragrant leaves and white flowers. Because their wood fluoresces in water, kidneywood species were once thought to possess healing powers; they were harvested to treat disorders of the urinary tract, hence the name. The flowers are attractive to bees and butterflies.
