About This Plant

Partial sun or partial shade. Hibiscus martianus is year-round bloomer with classic hibiscus flowers of five broad petals and a central pistil. The leaves are noticeably thicker and smaller than widely cultivated hibiscus varieties. Heartleaf hibiscus can be grown in full sun but also does fine in partial shade; it grows surprisingly well in pots.

Origins: Northern Mexico and Rio Grande Valley, west to Val Verde County in Texas

Maintenance

Protect from harsh winter cold, especially from north winds.

A drought-tolerant South Texas hibiscus with crimson flowers.
