Full sun or partial shade. Tiny evergreen leaves resemble bush germander or cenizo, but without dramatic shows of color. (There are white flowers in spring, but these can be easily overlooked on a white shrub.) Reddish fruits appear in autumn.
Durable and hardy, cotoneaster tolerates poor and compacted soils (and naturalizes easily.) Soft leaves and branches lend themselves to topiary and hedging.
