Damianita

Chrysactinia mexicana

Damiana, Mariola, Hierba de San Nicolas, Calanca

About This Plant

Full summer sun; evergreen leaves crowded on upright stems, superficially resembling rosemary or santolina. The leaves have a fragrance similar to camphor. Seas of tiny yellow blooms appear spring through fall. Damianita is a very tiny shrub often used as a groundcover; it tolerates heat, drought, and rock, but make sure to provide good drainage, especially if your soil is deep clay.

Origins: Southwestern US and northern Mexico
