Sun. Evergreen. Cow’s tongue is a prickly pear with 4-foot pads that reach upward like long curling fingers: a striking otherworldly specimen in any landscape.
The yellow blooms and tuna fruits are similar to other prickly pears. Cow’s tongue can be easily propagated by breaking off and re-rooting the pads.
Like any prickly pear, Cow’s Tongue eventually grows large;
give it room. Thorny pads make cutting back a chore, even with heavy gloves.
