A welcome advantage for veggies

Don’t let drought deter you from tending to your vegetable garden.

Do you have vegetable garden in your landscape? Under Stage 3 watering rules, you can water it with drip irrigation three days a week!

Water drip system parts and gloves

This means in addition to the designated Monday and Friday drip irrigation days, vegetable gardens can also be watered by drip on Wednesdays. And you don’t need to apply for a variance.

Just make sure your veggie beds meet these requirements.

  • The beds being irrigated must be exclusively dedicated to vegetables. Beds that include other landscape plants are not included. Note: beds of edible florals are not considered vegetable beds.
  • Vegetables grown are used for home consumption and not sold commercially.
  • Any other type of irrigation in a vegetable garden, or in a landscape with vegetable gardens, is subject to the Stage 3 watering rules.

Drip irrigation in other parts of the landscape (other than vegetable garden beds) may only be operated on Monday and Friday, per Stage 3 watering rules. Hand-watering with a hand-held hose is allowed any time on any day.
