About This Plant

The state grass of Texas! Dappled shade, part shade, full sun; a warm season bluish-green bunchgrass, purplish in autumn with distinctive oat-like seedheads on one side of the stem. Well-adapted to thin, rocky soils; a good addition to any wildflower seed mix because it stays short in spring. Often found with little bluestem.

Origins: North and South America; a Texas native.
