Sage

Salvia officinalis

Common Sage, Culinary Sage

About This Plant

Partial sun, with fragrant grey sage leaves. A short-lived evergreen perennial, best treated as an annual in San Antonio. Common sage can be tender in south-central Texas, often expiring suddenly at the onset of summer. However, the hybrid ‘Nazareth’ endured intense heat, drought, and humidity better than the typical cultivars; the growers had to provide some supplemental water.
