Decorating Au Naturale for the Holidays

Skip the lines at craft stores — and save some cash, too — by looking to your garden for holiday decor inspiration and supplies.

I don’t know about you, but Christmas and the holiday season is my favorite time of the year. The cooler weather has arrived and most of the gardening chores have been put on hold. And it’s time to relax and enjoy being with family. Decorating is probably at the top of your list of chores for the holiday season. It can be easily accomplished by using things you might already have.

Unless you’ve done it already, you’re probably thinking about what holiday decorations to put up inside and outside your home. Skip the lines at your local craft stores — and save some cash, too — and look to your garden for inspiration and supplies.

Cuttings from junipers or any other evergreen tree make lovely fresh wreaths. Old tree limbs can be tied together to create stars and Christmas trees. Mason jars filled with cuttings from those same evergreens along with dusty miller and cranberries make really cute centerpieces. Just use your imagination and the possibilities are endless!
