This is a basic introduction to water conservation in the home landscape. Bexar County Master Gardener, Lynn Cox, will explain how much to water trees, shrubs, plants, and turf, as well as the proper and most water efficient methods to applying water. Lynn will demonstrate how to test the soil moisture using a long shafted screwdriver. She will give recommendations of drought tolerant plants, along with the numerous benefits to using these plants in the home landscape. In addition to water conservation and protection, the importance of reducing chemicals like fertilizer and herbicides will also be discussed.
